Freezing Cooked Bacon

Buying in bulk can save you money.  And when you use your freezer, you can save time and effort as well.  A slice or two of bacon makes a tasty side to eggs in the morning, but requires a lot of effort to make --- and quite a bit of greasy clean up. That is why I was so happy to hear this tip recently from my mother-in-law.

When purchasing bacon, cook the entire package at once.  Drain on paper towels.

Then store in an air tight container, layering the bacon between parchment, paper towel, or waxed paper.

When you need a slice of bacon for a quick breakfast or bacon crumbs for a great topping, just remove the number of slices needed and heat a few seconds in the microwave. You'll have great crispy bacon without the morning clean up.
