Beef Barley Stew

1 and 1/2 lb. of stew meat
1 medium onion, chopped
2 Tbsp. vegetable oil
1 quart of water
1 – 15 oz. can of tomato sauce
5 medium carrots, peeled & sliced
1 celery rib, sliced
2 tsp. of salt
1/2 tsp. of oregano
1/2 tsp. of paprika
1/4 tsp. of pepper
2 cups of green beans
2 cups of corn
3/4 cup of barley
In a skillet, brown the stew meat & onion; drain. Transfer to a crock pot. Add the water, tomato sauce, carrots, celery, salt, oregano, paprika and pepper. Cover and cook on low for 4 – 5 hours.
Then add green beans, corn and barley. Cover and cook on low 2 hours longer or until tender
