6 slices Texas Toast
1 cup milk
2 Tbs sugar
2 tsp vanilla extract
1 tsp ground cinnamon
The night before you plan to make this meal, lay out bread open on the counter. Drying the bread in the manner will help it to soak up the egg mixture without getting soggy.
Cut each piece of bread into thirds and lay in a 13x9 dish. Whisk together eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla, and cinnamon. Pour over bread and let soak 2 minutes. Turn once. Transfer sticks to a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper. Freeze until firm. Transfer to freezer bag.
To serve: Place frozen sticks on greased baking sheet. Bake at 425º for 8 minutes. Turn and bake 10-12 minutes. Sprinkle with powdered sugar and serve with syrup.
FYI: Be sure the pan is non-stick or well greased and do not try to turn prior to 8 minutes. It will stick but if you let it go long enough it will be easier to flip.
